The Inaugural Ball (1/50)

This is it! My inaugural post for the 50-100-50 (minus the 100) challenge I place upon myself. For those of you who asking themselves what the hell the 50-50 challenge is, and are too lazy to scroll down the page to find out: The 50-100-50 challenge is the challenge to write 50 100 word posts in 50 days.
I have altered this slightly to get rid of the 100 word rule and I am ever so glad I did that. I couldn't work under such strict circumstances!
Now on with the show. For my first post in the challenge I would like to discuss Control Issues. Yes I see the irony in discussing control issues after I changed the rules of challenge. I also see the irony in discussing control issues whilst listening to Barbra Streisand.
At the moment, I feel as if I am being controlled (or as I like to call it "emotionally blackmailed"), and it is causes serious life issues (meaning, if the attempts to be controlled are not, well, controlled, then someone is going to die). I know that I have issues with being controlled (or the perception thereof) and I wondered if that is actually a "Control Issue".
Needless to say, I have never felt that I was controlling. I have had my "Miranda" (Devil Wears Prada) moments when trying to create a vision (ie performance, event, branding, etc) and I am quite stubborn and demanding in getting this accomplished. In my view, that is what I was hired for, and the outcome is representative of my reputation.
Bad outcome = Bad reputation = No work!

Teensy Weensy Amendment

I have decided to not participate in the 50-100-50 challenge... sort of. Trying to keep it to precisely 100 words as counting and preciseness is far out of the boundaries which my mind can process, so I am scrapping the "100".
The promise I do make to you is that I will post 50 posts in 50 days... and I promise that I definitely did have my fingers crossed whilst making the previous promise.

Be Warned!

I have been swiftly informed that part of having a blog is to actually update it on a regular basis. Consistency has never been my strong point.

Therefore I am going to complete the 50-100-50 challenge. What is the 50-100-50 challenge? I have to write 50 100 word posts over 50 days.

I am not sure the precise rules of this "game" so it is unclear if it has to be one post a day for 50 days or if I can write 25 posts on the first day and 25 posts on the 50th day. Also unclear is if the post has to be 100 words exactly. Not 101 or 102, but 100.

Before I lose track of dates, this means 50 post 100 word posts by 19 June 2008 (depending on your hemisphere and whether you count today or not).

How many words was that?

147. This may be easier than I thought. 156.

Overheard

Part of my job role entails me attending various trade shows to promote my company's product. Often times at these trade shows, a large number of stands are filled by products who have absolutely nothing to do with the trade-at-large.

These products are usually domestic items to make a housewife's life easier. The sales people for these domestic goddess items are usually spunky older women with short haircuts and sensible shoes, and will say anything, no matter how ridiculous or dated to sell their product.

The following sales lines were heard at the past trade show:

For a special plate that instantly brings metal to a brilliant shine:

"Imagine how much time you will save polishing all your silver. Ladies, what are you going to do on your Sundays now?"

Regarding food containers that vacuum seal food:

"You can take it right from the freezer to the microwave. and that is the best thing ever!"

I should also note that with these product, you can keep cheese fresh for 60 days. I haven't decided if that was good or bad point.

For bidet (and this is the best one yet):

"The great thing about a bidet is that it also cleans and you don't need to worrying about bits of toilet paper stuck to your pussy."

Candy Hearts Make Me Vomit.

Despite that blogger says the date is 13th of February, on the bottom side of the globe it is actually the 14th... So..... Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Remember: If no one sends you love today, then you aren't really loved.

And in case you are wondering, the painting is entitled "Cupid Chastised"
